Michael Marsh: six injured outside the 83rd Precinct
October 29, 2026 · Shortly before 4 p.m. · Bushwick, Brooklyn
According to the NYPD account reported by FOX 5, Marsh drove onto the sidewalk on Knickerbocker Avenue during the precinct’s trunk-or-treat event, hit a parked ambulance and struck pedestrians. Three children, ages 6, 8 and 11, and three adult women were hospitalized in stable condition. [FOX 5 New York]
Witness Caira Lewis described a narrow escape. She told ABC7 that she had just stepped out of a cab and onto the sidewalk when the collision happened, and moved her baby out of danger. [ABC7 New York]
Another witness told ABC7 that people pointed the driver out to police, who ran over and arrested him. The reporting identifies the NYPD response but does not name the individual arresting officers. [ABC7 New York]
Marsh faces charges including vehicular assault, reckless endangerment and DWI. Officials had not released the injured pedestrians’ names in the reports reviewed. Rebecca Case: nine children lose their mother
Crash: October 28, 2026 · About 5:15 p.m. · Collierville, Tennessee
Rebecca Case was stopped in construction-zone traffic on Highway 385 near the Progress Road overpass when, police say, Derek Kyle Johnson, 37, struck the rear of her Honda CR-V. The collision triggered a chain reaction. Emergency crews found her SUV burning, with Case trapped inside; she died at the scene. [Action News 5]
An October 30 Action News 5 report added a significant detail: Johnson already faced a separate September DWI case in Missouri. He was arraigned in Tennessee on charges including vehicular homicide, DUI and driving with a suspended license. Those earlier charges should not be mistaken for convictions. [Action News 5]
Family friend Matthew Nowlin told WREG that Case’s nine children, ages 4 to 18, were at home when the crash happened. Her husband, Matt Case, learned of the wreck while friends were messaging him. Nowlin described neighbors bringing meals and helping with laundry as the family faced the loss. [WREG / AOL]
Benito Reyes: a fatal crash and a disputed traffic signal
Crash: October 24, 2026 · Around midnight · Colorado Springs, Colorado
Colorado Springs police arrested Fort Carson Staff Sgt. Calvin Dittmeier, 28, on October 29 in connection with the crash that killed Benito Reyes, 19. According to The Gazette’s account of court documents, Dittmeier’s pickup struck Reyes’s Audi while turning left from East Platte Avenue onto Space Center Drive. [The Gazette]
Dittmeier reportedly said he had a protected green light. Investigators allege that images obtained from his vehicle instead showed a flashing yellow signal and a failure to yield. He faces charges including vehicular homicide while driving under the influence. [The Gazette]
Reyes’s published obituary identifies his parents as Shauna Reyes and Francisco Reyes. It describes a young man pursuing his education at Pikes Peak State College, dedicated to fitness and hoping to own a Corvette by age 21. [Benito Reyes obituary / Angelus Chapel]
These cases remain at different stages of investigation and prosecution. The allegations against Marsh, Johnson and Dittmeier are not findings of guilt.
