Youth In Action

MADD’s Youth In Action program is designed to prevent underage drinking by reducing the social and retail availability of alcohol for youth under the age of 21 and by supporting the enforcement of underage drinking laws. Youth In Action partners high school students with law enforcement, educates adults in the community, and targets alcohol sales to minors. By reducing the access of alcohol to those under 21, this program aims to reduce the amount of youth engaging in underage drinking.

Wickenburg, Ariz. — On Friday, October 12, 2018, a 53-year-old woman lost control of her vehicle along US 60 near milepost 117. The vehicle traveled through the right-of-way fence and dropped 50 feet, landing in a mesquite tree where it remained suspended above the ground. There were no apparent witnesses to the crash and it would be six days before the woman would be discovered by authorities.

A mother in South Fulton, Ga., is mourning the loss of her 27-year-old son, after pulling up to a fatal car accident to discover that he was the victim. Robin Le-Hanefi told local Atlanta news station WSB-TV about the tragedy that took place on Nov. 16, when she encountered her son driving on Old National Highway, before seeing a cloud of smoke up ahead. Just moments before, Andre Johnson was going along with the flow of traffic. But when she went up to investigate where the smoke was coming from, it was Johnson’s mangled Jeep at the center of it.

Akron police: Speed appeared to be factor in crash that killed 4

AKRON — Police say speed appeared to be a factor in a car crash in Ohio that killed all four people in the vehicle. Akron police say the car must have been traveling at an excessive speed Monday when it went off the road and crashed into a retaining wall and a light pole before bursting into flame. Police say the speed limit on that stretch of road was 25 mph. The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office said Tuesday that two of those killed in the crash were 29-year-old Colleen Wood, of Akron, and 29-year-old Alex Lester, of Ravenna. Two men who also were killed haven't been identified.
